Fix Minor Clogged Drain Problems At Home
The symptoms are all the same. The sink drains a little longer than usual. Water is pooling around the shower drains and don't forget that pungent and unpleasant odor. These are all signs that your drain is clogging, and there’s no telling when it will clog completely.
Problems like these need quick resolution or else you’ll be facing with a pool of dirt, leftover and grime on your sinks and bathroom floors. Once you notice that your drains seem to be blocked in a way, try any of the following remedies.
The Wire Hanger Solution
Actually, you can use any thin flexible material like hanger wires. You just have to create a small hook at the end by bending a part. Push the wire into the drain and then try your best to fish out the reason for the clog. You will know if there is since your reach will be blocked. After you’ve taken some, pour down hot water to flush the rest out.
Vinegar + Baking Soda Mixture
Simply mix the two and immediately pour down the drain. You can also pour the baking soda first into the clogged drain followed by the vinegar. This process will remove the grime, hair and gunk through the fizzing action due to the chemical reaction of the two. Leave it for at least an hour up to overnight. Flush with hot water afterwards.
Wet & Dry Vacuum
If you own one, you’ll find out that it has more flexible uses. First, set it to liquid vacuum and remove the paper filter. Cover up the vent to avoid making a mess. After this, seal the drain as tightly as you can. Once done, start the vacuum process. You should be able to pull out some of the blockage. It does not work all the time especially if the clog is far down the drain, but it’s worth a try.
